Course Objective

The Diploma in Law (Malta) is an intensive  diploma that can be achieved over 18 months, This is a part-time evening course which allows participants to follow this course whilst still working.  This course is designed for those who require or are interested in acquiring a knowledge on the discipline of law whether to enter into a legal career, enhance their legal career or even want a good understanding of law for their own career or self-knowledge.

The course is over 17 modules and each module may also be taken up separately allowing participants to either do the full programme or focus on one or more areas of law.

Throughout this diploma participants will become progressively immersed into the world of the Maltese legal system. Participants will develop the main pillars of legal knowledge and will have  guidance from our experienced academic team.

Persons wishing to gain a thorough and practical knowledge of the most salient fields of Maltese law, both on the basis of principles of law and substantive law, on a part-time basis.

Learning Outcomes

  • Clearly comprehend instructions regarding what sort of research or work would be necessary for them to carry out;
  • Compile findings and conclusions in a clear and concise manner which can be easily comprehended by their superiors;
  • Explain with clarity and attention to detail findings and conclusions orally if so required, and express these in a professional and agreeable manner
  • Conduct independent research on law, jurisprudence, and other sources as required;
  • Understand the wording of Maltese (and foreign) legislation and be able to apply jurisprudential interpretation thereto;
  • Recognise issues which arise at law;
  • Advance knowledge further in an independent manner.

Entry Requirements

2 Advanced level subjects at Grade C or better, and 3 Intermediate level subjects at Grade C or better. 1 of any of these subjects must be Maltese or English

OR

3 Advanced level subjects at Grade C or better

OR Mature/Adult Learning Student (must be 23 when course starts) subject to an interview by the Head of the Academy.
